Static Test Verification on Retrofitting Method for On-service Transmission Tower

Abstract Retrofitting methods for transmission tower on-service conditions should avoid punching and welding. This paper presents a non-destructive retrofitting method, the T-shaped composite angles to meet demand. The original angle was combined with components by V-shaped clamps. Both numerical analysis static loading test were carried out verify effectiveness of this method. results show that compared lateral stiffness segment, reinforced one increased. load-bearing capacity segment almost doubled before reinforcement. proposed method is effective.
